The painting that restarted my passion..

Hello and thank you for visiting my website!

Many years ago I took lessons in oil painting and sketched using charcoal and pencil. I loved putting color to canvas and being creative to produce something beautiful.

I didn’t consider Art a viable career so instead became an Optician which I’ve enjoyed for 35+ years. It has provided me the opportunity to study shapes and colour in relation to bone structure, shapes and shadows and how to listen to what people want while providing what they need.

In the fall of 2018, while visiting my parents, I noticed one of my oil paintings hanging on their wall. This had been gifted to my grandparents 40+ years ago and it had been recently returned to them. It made me stop what I was doing, move closer and really look at it. This is what art should do!

It sparked my interest to test if I still had the talent to produce something beautiful. Not wanting to fuss with oil paint, solvents, etc. I felt watercolour would be a good medium to test my abilities.

I was hooked and discovered animals, specifically pet portraits, are my favourite subjects.
